Hi guys, the name is akumous -- a gamer -- and this is my blog it is about my one of many passions such as video games. Basically this is centrally my gamer's blog where I will not post about videogames but other geeky material such as anime, comic book films, hardware, and I will occasionally vent about the nonsense that antagonize me about the gaming industry. Although this blog is a work in progress...it is my tool for escapism and fun. Thanks in advance for following my page.

Strider 2014 - impressions and in a sense review
If you are a fan of Super Metroid and Castlevania Symphony of the Night then download this game because regardless of which platform you choose--it is for all platforms with the exception of Nintendo's WiiU--you are going to have an amazing time.
The game speaks volumes to old school gamers like myself or gamers that appreciate action-pace 2d scrollers with a touch of modernization to keep it engaging for today's generation. Strider(2014) is exciting, addictive, challenging, and has a decent length, which is surprisingly for downloadable game priced at 14.99. It should, on the hardest difficult, which I highly recommend because the game is way too easy on normal settings, run at an average of 8 hrs on the first play through or mostly 7 hours since I have had spent most of my time searching for collectables and maxing out my upgrades.
I first was introduced to the character, Strider Hiryu, back in Marvel VS Capcom, a fighting game, prior to that I never knew who the character was or his popularity outside of the gaming spectrum. To put it bluntly, this is my first Strider game, and be honest, I am glad it is.
I am a massive fan of Super Metriod's game style in terms of exploration and power ups. Unlike Metriod, this game has insanely addictive combat with cool bosses. I can't stop playing, it is so fun and addictive, with its colorful environments, tons of explorations, collectables, power ups, and more.
This is bar far one of the best downloadable games I have ever played and probably the best Strider game yet. Did I mention how surprisingly satisfying and long the game is for a game that cost only 14.99? Double Helixs did a masterful job with retaining the style and frantic combat of the classic strider games while spicing it up with modern tech.
Although the mainstream gaming sites reviews were mostly positive, there were a few that annoyed me, because of their unfair criticisms towards one of the better games of this genre. Personally, I don't think the game deserves an extremely high score like a 9 per se, but to be scored in mediocrity category is a disservice.
I won't set no premise or expectation here. Just read the general consensus from average gamers and you will see for yourself that the majority loves this game. Get Strider, it is worth it.

Strider Remake...
I am trying to defuse the fire that is my impulse of buying Strider remake...you may ask why and that is because as it is now every PS3 game I have bought via PSN may not be playable on the next generation console but I have a soft spot for classic side scrolling games, especially games like this.
Umm...I am going to buy it, fuck it.

I just watch a review for Final Fantasy XIII Lighting Returns so let me share my opinion..
I was remotely interested and at one point considered buying it despite not playing Final Fantasy XIII-2 but after doing my research and then finally watching a review, sliver of interest is now completely gone.
Square-Enix what the fuck are you doing with the beloved FF franchise huh? After Final Fintasy X everything just went down hill; and to most gamers everything started with that title but for me Final Fantasy was unprecedented for the series. First game to have voiced characters and an almost total departure of the traditional mechanics but at least it was a fantastic game.
From what I saw FFXIII Lighting Returns is a decent RPG but not up to caliber of what we were used to. Anyway, what ever....thank God I don't rely on this company for epic RPGs anymore. Times have changed and so I do.

Dark Souls -- and what my anticipations are for Dark Souls 2
I, like many, almost dissuaded from playing Demon Souls because I was illusional about the game's difficulty.
Demon Souls never was a hard game. It was me and poor perception of the series that had almost ruin me from experiencing such a masterful game and promising franchise. However, despite competing both Demon Souls and Dark Souls, I just came to realization that I have been playing the games wrong.
I focused most of my energies in to leveling up my character and reading FAQs of the perfect balance of crafting my individual build rather than properly exploring the game's lore. I was wrong to have thought that the game didn't really have too much of store, since it focuses on pure gameplay and conveys the story in its world, which in most part is true but I rarely read the items I picked up in the game which were essential to the game's story. Only then, years now after completing the game, and while I watched gaming walk throughs and random reviews of the game, I realized how much rich story I missed out of my own self discovery.
I have had been handicapped by today's modern gaming design, more or less, spoiled by games where the developers design the game to be lenient in guiding me instead of letting me think and use my own merits to figure out the story or puzzle. In some respects, I can't blame them since they are many areas in game's such as Dark Souls, where the cues are too vague for the time-limited gamer to figure out.
I don't have as much free time as I once had. I tend to play games more hurriedly instead of enjoying the beauty and awe in the game's design, story, and characters. And in that respect I have myself to blame.
Why am I rushing? The games I play are not rented, but owned. So I shouldn't be rushing since I don't have a specific deadline like game reviewers do. So why I have limited patients?
The simple answer, at least for me, is there are way to many games I would like to play through. When I was a child, I didn't have the luxuries of having the convenience of accessing games within my home country. I am sure this rings a tune with my foreign viewers, who do don't have access to local gaming shops in there country, but rely on pricy imports, and in that respects I used to value my gaming time more wisely since it is going to be a while before I travel to US or import a game.
However, those times are gone, and I tend to purchase or play games during the most busy season, which in that time they are a lot of amazing games to play.
If I were to play Dark Souls for the first time now, since it is a quarter than gaming, rather than the busiest quarter, I probably would have a much more engaging experience.
For those who thinking of jumping in the world of Dark Souls, please take your time, in exploring the world thoroughly. Try understanding the many story cues that is hid out through out the game. And once you play it slowly and methodically, you will soon realize that it is one of the better games of this generation.
Dark Souls II...I promise I won't make the same mistake with you.
